Macquarie University, located in the metropolitan area of Sydney has its degree system fully aligned  with the Bologna Accord. Established in 1964, the university is recognized for its teaching, research, innovation, internationalisation and specialist subjects. Macquarie university ranks 254 in the world according to the QS World University Rankings. Times Higher Education ranks Macquarie in between 300-350  in the world and is one of the top 40 universities in the Asia-Pacific region.

For the purpose of commuting, the university has its own railway station which is operated by eight trains. On campus sport programs are organized so that students can participate and for promoting athletics, sport and aquatic center has been built. Other facilities include clinics, catering, food and shopping.

For accommodation purpose, there are several residence halls at the  Macquarie university. Some of them are Dayman apartments, Dunmore Lang College, Herring Road apartments, Iglu, Macquarie parklands and  Macquarie university village.
