OVERVIEW
The University of Waterloo, established in 1956, is a public research University. It is situated in the city of Waterloo, Ontario, Canada. It is a member of the U15 which is a group of research-intensive universities in Canada. According to 2013 Academic Ranking of World Universities, the University lies in the bracket of 115-200 in the world and seventh in Canada. According to Times Higher Education World University Rankings, this University lies in the 226-260 bracket worldwide. According to 2014 QS World University Rankings, the University ranks 169th in the world.
The University functions on the motto- ?In harmony with the truth.? This University owns three semi-autonomous affiliated colleges and a federated University. The Mcleans?s Magazine has ranked it number one after occupying the reputation ranking provided by education and business leaders. At the University of Waterloo, there are six faculties which operate 10 schools.
CAMPUS
The main campus of the University of Waterloo occupies a land of 1,000 acres. It is enclosed by Waterloo Park to the south, Wilfrid Laurier University to the southeast, residential neighbourhoods to the northeast, east and west and the Laurel Creek Conservation Area to the Northwest. The University maintains several other properties in Cambridge, Huntsville, Kitchener and Stratford.

The University of Waterloo has been ranked as one of the top universities worldwide for Mathematical Sciences. According to QS World University Rankings, the University ranks 32nd in the world in the field of statistics and operational research. According to QS World University Rankings, in the field of mathematics, Waterloo ranks 29th in the world. According to ARWU, engineering, technology and computer science rank 43 in the world.
STUDENT FACILITIES
At the University of Waterloo, there are two student unions. Each student union has organizations and clubs running under it. Running clubs and organizations offer activities in the areas of academics, culture, religion, social issues and recreation. The University has its own official student newspaper called the Imprint and a campus radio station called the CKMS-FM.
In sports, the University has several sports teams that are together known as Waterloo Warriors. At the University of Waterloo, varsity teams cover badminton, baseball, cross country, figure skating, golf, hockey, rugby, soccer and swimming. The University comprises the Physical Activity Complex, which houses two gymnasiums, beach volleyball courts, squash rooms and a swimming pool.
The University houses four libraries holding over 1.4 million books and electronic resources.
