OVERVIEW

The University of South Wales was established in 2013 after the collaboration of the University of Glamorgan and the University of Wales. It is a public university situated in Wales and is the sixth largest university in the United Kingdom. According to the Good University Guide, this university ranks 114 out of 123 UK Universities. It is one of the five major Universities in Wales and is also a member of the St David?s Day Group.

The University fosters over 31,000 students coming from 122 different countries. It is affiliated with the University Alliance. It is not only a part of the University of South Wales Group but also a part of the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama and the Merthyr Tydfil College.

CAMPUS

The University of South Wales has four campuses. First is the Caerleon campus which is located on the northern boundary of Newport. Varieties of undergraduate and postgraduate courses are taught at this campus which includes photography, education and sports. Second is the Newport campus which provides courses in the areas of business and film school. Third is the Pontypridd campus which has three parts called Treforest, Glyntaff and Tyn y Wern. Fourth is the Cardiff campus where creative, fashion and professional services courses are offered.

Lectures are delivered by award-winning poets, authors, historians, computer scientists, engineers and journalists.

STUDENT FACILITIES

In sports, students can choose from a variety of options like cycling, rugby, badminton, golf and athletics. Sports centers have been built at the Treforest Campus and the Caerleon Campus. Professional teams and athletes use the Sports Park.

Students, at the University of South Wales run several clubs and societies out of which the Climbing society, Snow sports and the Equestrian society are considered the best. The University Library provides for a wide range of e-books, journals, newspapers, theses, specialist collections, DVDs and CDs and statistics and maps. Advice centers also provide friendly, impartial and confidential services to students.
