Overview
Northern Illinois University is a public research
university which was founded in May 2, 1895 as northern Illinois state normal
school. It was founded by Illinois governor John P. Altgeld. Northern Illinois University
is situated in Dekalb, Illinois, United States in Chicagoland.
According to US News & World Report this
university is classified as a national university. It also ranked#30th
in the United States by Pay scale and College Net?s Social Mobility Index
College Rankings.
Campus
Northern
Illinois University?s main campus is situated in DeKalb and it takes over
around 756 acres. The main campus has more than 64 major buildings. The
university has four more campuses in the United States.
The
Lorado Taft Field Campus situated in 144 acres and Rockford Campus takes over
around 10 acres. Two other campuses are the Hoffman campus and Naperville
Campus, Hoffman is located in 23.93 acres and Naperville Campus is spread over
in more than 11 acres. The most famous building in the campus is iconic castle.
This building was billed by the suggestion of governor john peter altgeld.
The auditorium
altgeld hall was designed to function like a ballroom and around 500 people can
sit there and the most popular place in campus is east lagoon, altgeld. Many
students visit this place.
